2016 Photos

2016 was an exciting year for the CPA. In autumn 2015, we started discussions with the 78th Highlanders (Halifax Citadel) about a twinning project with their junior band, and as a result, we put together a combined Saskatchewan/Nova Scotia pipe band for two Highland Games weekends. The Halifax members did fundraising and heavy practice to learn the CPA tunes and scores, and they travelled here in May to compete as part of the CPA Pipe Band, and in July we travelled to meet the Halifax members in Fredericton, New Brunswick for the New Brunswick Highland Games. Band members fro both groups had a brilliant time meeting other kids and travelling, and the parents and family members had a blast also. As well as that, the CPA Pipe Band did it's regular events, such as Remembrance Day, the Sons of Scotland Burns Supper, regional Highland Games in Regina, Brandon and Winnipeg, University of Regina convocation ceremonies, and other community events. One special occasion in 2016 was members of rthe CPA snare line playing three nights running for country star Johnny Reid, and a group of the kids performing with Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy in their Christmas tour. Johnny Reid was so excited by the Halifax-Regina story, that he made a donation to the travel fund for the band.
